i was appling for a personal loan. i recieved a call from a man named XXXX saying he was from Lending tree. after appling i was told to get a verification card with the first months payment as a XXXX gift card for {$150.00}. I did and read him the number off back.Then I was told Alabama wanted taxes before releasing funds of another {$150.00} sent the same way. Then I was told one card was not acivated at the store ( XXXX XXXX ) so I went there and they even called main office, but no help. I even called Lending Tree and they told me fraud and to get ahold of you Phone number of XXXX is XXXX XXXX cards number are XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX this happened on XXXX and XXXX, 2020. I have called XXXX as the money on cards is gone

I applied for a auto refi loan with XXXX through Lending Tree to get a better interest rate and lower monthly payment about two weeks ago and discovered an error on my credit report. Today, I called and the error had been corrected with an improved credit score of XXXX. XXXX is a scam -- in order to obtain an auto loan with a decent interest rate and payment customers have to agree to purchase GAP insurance. The offer was a 5.1 % interest rate which is better than my present 7.99 %. I refused the deal because the sales rep stated that my payment will increase from {$550.00} to {$570.00} and not decreased. The reason for this offer is that I refused GAP insurance. There is no way my new monthly payment at 5.1 % interest for the same amount of months would increase instead of decrease. This is a total scam, and this company should be shut down immediately.

In early XXXX I was shopping around to find a loan for a new car purchase. During my internet search I was directed to Lending Tree at which time I was lead to believe that I was shopping for companies with the best rate. I submitted basic personal information, but at no time did I understand that I was submitting an application for a loan. I ended up going with a local financial institution, but this week I received a letter saying that I had been denied a loan with XXXX XXXX XXXX . I do not recall submitting an application for a loan, and believed that I was only inquiring into details of loans. So contacted XXXX XXXX XXXX and the representative proceeds to ask for my information. Name, phone number, and then the last four of my social security number. At that point I declined verify any additional PII data because I never shared the data with XXXX XXXX, but the representative confirmed that the application came from Lending Tree.
My issue is that Lending Tree is very misleading. There are a bunch of data points that are being collected upfront, and at no point was it ever disclosed that I was submitting an application for lending. If I knew that I was submitting an application I would have stopped or never started the inquiry.
