On XX/XX/XXXX I was notified by XXXX of a credit collection claim that had been filed against me by Receivable Performance Management ( RPM ) and spoke to a customer service representative. Prior to this point I had not received notice of any type from RPM, or from the company the alleged debt was owed, XXXX XXXX. As I informed the customer service representative, I am a current customer of XXXX XXXX and my account is in good standing.
After requesting some basic contact information about me the representative informed me that the claim related to a " XXXX XXXX '' for service provided at XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX, AL. The service for which the collection was based upon ran from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX.
I informed the customer service representative that I had, in fact, resided at the aforementioned address, but that my lease ended and I relocated in XXXX XXXX, prior to the period in question. Additionally, my name is XXXX XXXX, not " XXXX XXXX. '' The representative advised me that they would mark the account as disputed and dispatch a packet to my attention with paperwork to fill out to dispute the claim.
As of this date, XX/XX/XXXX, I have not yet received any correspondence from RPM.
I was told by the representative of RPM that the collections claim was filed using my social security number, however, a subsequent call to XXXX XXXX 's fraud department indicated that not to be the case. XXXX XXXX confirmed that I have no claims against my account, nor have I in the past. I am a current customer of their service in good standing. XXXX XXXX further told me that this sounded like an instance of " skip tracing, '' which prior to that date I had not heard of.
Subsequently I put a 90 day hold on my credit reports and requested a full version of my Equifax report, which revealed the details of the errant claim that was made against me.
My credit scores dropped over 30 points due to this collection claim, but have since rebounded as it was apparently removed. As I never heard anything from RPM I am concerned as to : 1 ) how/why my credit was incorrectly penalized, and 2 ) whether this erroneous claim has been fully expunged.
I am filing this complaint to notify the CFPB of the skip tracing tactic that was applied to this account, erroneously leading to a collection effort against me, simply because I shared a common name with a person who resided at an address that I left years ago.

Receivable s Perfor mance refu ses to remove a debt that has been paid off since XXXX XXXX , 2012 . The original debt was with XXXX who, once paid, removed the entry from my credit within 90 days as they said they would. This company though says that they do not and will not remove this entry from my credit even though it 's adversely effecting my credit in a paid status. When you call they put you on silent holds or just let the phone ring. They treat you, even when you have paid the debt, as though you belong in debtor 's prison and you are wasting their precious time.

I was promised by RPM that they would delete my collections account after it was paid. I have tried talking to everyone at that company but no one will even help. I did n't even realize I had debt un paid until I tried to get my mortgage. I paid the debt immediately in full and trusted they would do their part.

Years ago, I had a XXXX account. For one reason or another, I closed the account. In XXXX, I received correspondence from a collection company - Receivables Performance Management - in regards to an outstanding balance of {$1500.00} ( ref # 309948372 ). I told the representative that I acknowledged the debt, but that I believe that what I owed was half of that. We settled on {$800.00}, split into two payments of {$400.00}.
I made the first payment on XX/XX/XXXX and the second payment was made on XX/XX/XXXX ( I have receipts of both transactions ).
The derogatory remark was removed from my credit report after the last payment was made.
In XXXX, it showed back up under a different company - XXXX XXXX. I reached out to them on XX/XX/XXXX in writing, asking for an explanation. I also disputed it via XXXX XXXX ( to no avail ).
A year later, I am still dealing with this outstanding debt that has been paid over 3 years ago. I contacted XXXX ( account number XXXX ) today, via phone, and spoke with a lady who was so rushed that I couldn't even catch her name. I explained the issue. She told me that I could sent the receipts to her via scanned email. When I asked what the follow up protocol is, she told me that it could be 30-90 days before I hear anything in regards to the issue. I think this is absolutely ridiculous and I told the lady so. She, then, told me that they have to reach out to XXXX and wait to hear back from them. I am confused, as the account is no longer with XXXX. It did not even come to XXXX from XXXX. It came from XXXX. I told her that I was thoroughly disappointed in both XXXX and XXXX. XXXX, the account is delinquent due to my original negligence, but I resolve this situation ( or so I thought ) 3 years ago, and now I am being told that it could be another 90 days before I know whether it's been resolved, or not. And, if it isn't resolved, what are the next steps?!

Debt Collector : My understanding is that you are attempting to collect a debt from me that I do not recall owing. In good faith, I called XXXX to terminate my service with them. I was told that my account would be terminated at the end of the present billing cycle. I also was told to return their equipment in boxes that they would send to me. After receiving the boxes, all of their equipment was package and hand- delivered to the Mail Bag Shipping and Mailing Center ( XXXX XXXX XXXX AL ) as directed by XXXX XXXX I paid my balance via credit card ( as usual ) to XXXX. A follow-up phone call was made about three weeks later to ensure that all equipment was received and that my bill had been paid-in-full. I was told yes to both inquiries. I asked them to send someone to remove their satellite dish from my property. Their reply was that they did not want it back. Now, after almost 1 year later, I get this debt collection letter from your company, requesting payment.
On XX/XX/2020 I sent you a certified letter requesting that you provide me with information that will validate a debt to XXXX that you said that I owed. I received a reply letter from you on XX/XX/2020 ( dated XXXX ), asking me to settle a debt ( for 75 % of the current balance if you receive payment on or before XXXX ).
You, however, failed to address my request for documentation to validate that the said debt belonged to me per my written correspondence ( letter ) sent to you on XX/XX/2020.
I believe that your actions are in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ), Section 1692 ( g ) subsections 809 ( a ) ( 4 ) and ( a ) ( 5 ) ; and subsection 809 ( b ), and are not done in good faith. Secondly, derogatory statements that were placed on my credit reports by your company have not ( to this date ) been removed. Your actions appear to be done with unclean hands.
Based on my prior letter to you ( XX/XX/2020 ) I informed you that I do not recall owing the said debt to XXXX. Please note : This is my Second Attempt to obtain validation of this debt that you are telling me that I owe to XXXX.

For the last several weeks, I have received phone calls on my cell phone from what caller id identified as spam calls 2-3 times daily. On XXXX XXXX, 2019, I went ahead and answered the call and found out it was RPM trying to make a collection for XXXX. I explained to the representative that I closed the account with a XXXX balance and that this was an error. The representative became very argumentative and rude. I ended the call and called XXXX. I resolved the issue with XXXX and was told that the collection was an error and it would submitted to another department to reverse the charge and remove the collection. On XXXX XXXX, 2019, I received another call from RPM. I was told that I was on a recorded line and several times I told the representative to not call my phone number again and that issue had been resolved with XXXX. The representative became very argumentative and rude. I ask to speak to a supervisor and I was told I would be transferred but the call was disconnected. On XXXX XXXX, 2019, I received another phone call and once again I explained that I had told their representative the previous day to not call my phone number again. The representative then wanted to verify my personal information and I told the representative that I was not going to verify my personal information and I gave the representative my phone number and told them to not call this number again and I ended the call.

I have disputed this debt with the credit bureaus and it came back verified i have since then contacted the company and haven't received a response. Where are the documents that your company used to verify that you are reporting these accounts accurately? What is the name of the person in your company who verified the accuracy of this account? What documents did they use to verify them? Please provide me with the name of that individual, their company title, and telephone number as well as copies of the documents that they used to verify that this disputed item are being reported accurately. Please be further advised, I dispute the validity of the alleged debt in its entirety. Further I request verification of the alleged debt, including, the name and address of the original creditor, along with a copy of a signed contract with the creditor. I received information from you attempting to collect the above-listed alleged debt that you have listed on my 3 credit reports. Your initial communication to me of the alleged-debts was within 30 days ago. Please be further advised, I dispute the validity of the alleged debt in its entirety. Further I request verification of the alleged debt, including, the name and address of the original creditor, along with a copy of a signed contract with the creditor. I disputed this debt with the credit bureaus and it came back verified I have since then contacted the company and haven't received a response. Where are the documents that your company used to verify that you are reporting these accounts accurately? What is the name of the person in your company who verified the accuracy of this account? What documents did they use to verify them? Please provide me with the name of that individual, their company title, and telephone number as well as copies of the documents that they used to verify that this disputed item are being reported accurately.

This company continues to report on my credit report after I sent them a letter telling them that this account was not mine and I have no idea what it is or who it belongs to!
I asked for proof of a signed contract, I asked for a license to collect in my state, I asked for copies of all information referenced for this debt and still to date, I have not received anything but harassment from this company!
THIS IS NOT MY DEBT!
I WANT THIS ACCOUNT REMOVED FROM MY CREDIT REPORT AND THIS COMPANY TO STOP CONTACTING ME IMMEDIATELY!

I called XXXX when I first got this bill. I was charged an amount for collect calls that was different than advertised. On the phone my son called me collect from was a sticker that said {$1.00} for XXXX or XXXX mins? but ended up being {$23.00} per XXXX minutes. I would have never accepted a collect call at {$23.00} for XXXX mins. So XXXX said we would dispute it, immediately closed that account and opened me a new XXXX. Giving me my same # XXXX XXXX told me I would only be responsible for what I owed them ( XXXX ) for my regular phone service. Then I get contacted by collections for the whole amount. I tell them the agreement and a lady at Receivables Performance agrees to the terms also. Later I apply for a loan for a car and find that on the day of XXXX XXXX 2015 when I made an agreement with RP to pay what I owed XXXX XXXX XXXX ( minus the collect call charges ) @ {$25.00} a month they then put it on my credit report. I recall being told that by paying $ XXXX/mo. would not only get my bill paid, but would keep it from going on my credit report.
