Complaint What Happened I received an email saying I owed a debt of {$370.00} to XXXX XXXX XXXX. However, I have never had an account with this company and, upon further investigation, learned that the name associated with the account was " XXXX XXXX. '' This is not my name and I don't know anyone by this name. I have also had the email address used by the debt collection agency for many ( ~13 or 14 ) years, so it is unlikely that it ever belonged to anyone else. After googling the name XXXX XXXX it appears that someone of that name died in 2014, so it seems like this may be an old debt rather than a case of a debtor supplying creditors with a false email address. It seems possible that this is simply an attempt to frighten random email addresses into paying off a debt of someone who has been deceased for a while. The debt collection company was TrueAccord, who stated that they were operating on behalf of XXXX XXXX XXXX. The person who emailed me was XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ).

Complaint What Happened On XX/XX/2020, I paid a debt with True Accord, whom was the collection agency for XXXX, XXXX. Since, they have placed the amount back on my credit report and drop my points by 20. I called and was told to contact True Accord, in which I did and they stated they would send the request a 3rd time in which True Accord stated they have sent the request. XXXX has refused to update their records and delete the account.

Complaint What Happened On XX/XX/2022, i received an email from a company called TrueAccord located in XXXX KS stating that i owed {$1000.00} to a company called XXXX XXXX XXXX who is the current creditor to XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX who originally owned this debt. i responded that i had no idea who TrueAccord was, who XXXX XXXX XXXX is or who XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX is. I also let them know that I have never had an account with XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX. I asked for proof of the debt and received a message that TrueAccord was suspending collection efforts and also asked several personal questions which i did not answer. I begin to receive collection efforts via email again on XX/XX/2022 via email. All communication has been to my work email not my personal email. Complaint What Happened This debt collector engaged in abusive, deceptive, and unfair practices of the FDCPA which it prohibits. They furnished this account that we didn't agree upon and I didn't sign an agreement on. A legal contract is signed by two parties and I did not participate in any of it. More so they didn't follow the proper 5 step validation procedure which make this unfair practices. Complaint What Happened Being a victim of identity theft has been such a traumatic me feeling experience that left me feeling XXXX and vulnerable. I have suffered greatly. I found out that somebody used my personal information and used it to open credit cards take out loans, and make fraudulent purchases, leaving me with significant amount of debt that Id didnt incur. Its frustrating and overwhelming to deal with the aftermath. I look forward to resolving the issue with the help of the FTC. Complaint What Happened I have been contacted several times via email about an alleged debt that I do not owe or a debt that is inaccurate and potentially a result of an impersonation and identity theft by an individual/third-party ( not affiliated with this debt collection company ). The communications are from TrueAccord Corp. regarding an alleged debt to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX on or about XX/XX/2018. Furthermore, in the email correspondence TrueAccord has listed personal and private information about me and my address ( that is protected by my partner 's XXXX XXXX orders ) that can not be obtained publicly or linked to me by any means other than that of illegal practices. Moreover, I have never been contacted by XXXX XXXX XXXX or any debt collector regarding this " alleged debt '' prior to this correspondence. I've requested this company to not contact me any further, blocked the sender, but to no avail TrueAccord and its representative known as XXXX XXXX XXXX continue to send communications via email about this debt/matter. Complaint What Happened XXXX leveraging True Accord debt collector is engaged in bad faith deceptive loan origination and debt collection practices. It is not possible to engage in the steps necessary dispute or negotiate a debt without personal information being used for enduring and continual marketing financial products with no ability to opt out. This makes it impossible to seek remedy for alleged debts without having personal information sold in exchange. The process is described here https : //www.notboring.co/p/trueaccord-unsexiness-as-a-moat " Once TrueAccord owns the customer relationship and has helped those consumers out of debt, it can begin to layer on additional financial services : partnerships with neobanks, debit cards, banking services. These are excellent businesses once the customer is in the door, but many attempts die at the hands of high CACs. TrueAccord is playing the long game, and has been for the past seven years, because it knows it can do well by doing good. Fewer consumers in debt, more consumers with access to financial services, more profits for TrueAccord. '' XXXX did not positively identify individual using their buy now pay later service and a loan was created in my name. The loan was not paid on. When the loan went to collections it was disputed via XXXX and XXXX credit report. The company provided no documentation showing the loan was valid and simply confirmed the loan. XXXX then advised to contact their debt collector to continue the dispute. Contacting their collection agency True Accord results in a new and permanent account with True Accord being created that market financial products from. XXXX never had consent to open the line of credit and therefore had no consent to give to True Accord for marketing of financial products to the non-consenting party. The current practices prevents the consumer from taking action on items reported to their credit report without unknowingly signing up for unwanted financial services.

Complaint What Happened I sent the collection agency True Accord a cease and Desist letter which included the law ( 15usc 1692c ) on XX/XX/2023. I received communication back that they received the communication on XX/XX/2023. But yet I am still receiving communication from True Accord. I spoke to a representative on today at XX/XX/2023 at XXXX XXXX who verified they received the communication on XX/XX/2023. Also she updated the system. I also spoke with the original owner of this account XXXX XXXX regarding this matter and they supposedly submitted a complaint up stated this action is unacceptable. I spoke to 2 nice representative regarding this unacceptable matter. They texted on XXXX XXXX, XXXX ; XX/XX/XXXX XXXX ; XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XXXX ; XX/XX/XXXX XXXX ; XX/XX/XXXX XXXX ; XX/XX/XXXX XXXX ; and XX/XX/XXXX XXXX via text. Also XX/XX/XXXX via email. This is willful non compliance ( 15 usc 1681n ). They are harassing me and I'm stressed out this is causing emotional stress. This is real ridiculous and inconsiderate of this company and I think this needs to be handled accordingly.

Complaint What Happened I received a text from TrueAccord on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXXXXXX XXXX. It included a link to pay a bill. I have never been overdue with a bill in my life so I ignored it. I received another text on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXXXXXX XXXX stating that they are trying to collect a debt. As a XXXX XXXX I feel this is a predatory phishing attempt to get me to pay something I don't owe. On XX/XX/XXXX I called TrueAccord at XXXX XXXX CST and told them I have no outstanding debts. The person transferred me around a bit and then I was spoken to rather rudely and was told my number was given at a legitimate phone number for the debt. I asked who gave me my number and was told that they can't give that information out! She said she'd remove my phone number from the list. However, this doesn't solve the greater problem as I have received other phone calls for outstanding debt and the person claims my number is a " good '' number to call.

( Last name was not mentioned other than the initial XXXX ), that stated : Taken from the FTC Fraud Affidavit and meant to help with the investigation. Please answer as many as you can and attach any supporting documentation. Please provide your full legal name, date of birth, drivers license number, current address, and the date you first lived at that address. Please provide information about the fraud ( like when you first discovered it, when you reported it to authorities or others, details about other frauds committee using your personal information ). If you know the name of the person who used your information or identification documents to open new accounts or use your existing accounts or otherwise commit fraud please provide their name, address, phone number and any other information about the crime ( like how the identity thief gained access to your information ). Complaint What Happened XXXX XXXX and their debt collector TrueAccord Corp. is reporting inaccurately to credit reporting bureaus. In CFPB Complaint number XXXX XXXX XXXX agreed I was not responsible for a reported debt and agreed to remove their reporting from my credit report. They have not removed it and denied removal through credit report dispute process. XXXX XXXX response to previous CFPB complaint acknowledged the item is not mine, " XXXX records indicate that after additional review of your case, the Account Safety team found you not responsible for repayment and sent you an email informing of this resolution on XX/XX/2022. The loan was labeled as unauthorized and will be removed from your credit report within XXXX next credit furnishing cycle, which may take between 30-60 days. '' XXXX has not honored their commitment to remove this unauthorized item from my credit report. It is causing significant damage to my credit history as it shows zero payment history and is reported seriously delinquent. This has caused significant financial hardship and threatens my DOD security clearance and employment. I have provided XXXX XXXX a reasonable amount of time for this item to be removed. I have disputed the debt through XXXX providing XXXX 's own response from the previous complaint. XXXX is still refusing to remove this unauthorized item.
